WHAT IS FOREST BATHING?
SHINRIN - YOKU the medicine of being in the Forest

SHINRIN- YOKU 森林浴 is a Japanese term that translates to ‘the art of forest bathing’ or taking in the forest atmosphere through all of the senses.” The Japanese have been practicing Shinrin - Yoku since the early 80s. A national nature therapy health program was launched in Japan in 1982 after Japanese researchers discover the science behind the health benefits of walking and spending time in nature. Our Society has become fast-paced, and often hectic. The World Health Organisation [WHO] calls stress the health epidemic of the twenty-first century. Wellness Practices such as "Forest Bathing" can help us become detached from the businesses of life and the overload of the digital world.
“Forest Bathing” or immersing yourself in nature, is being embraced by doctors and others as a way to combat stress and improve health”

WHY DO I NEED A GUIDE?
You might be wondering why you would need a guide to take a walk in nature. There’s quite a distinction to make between a solo nature walk and a guided Forest Bathing Walk. Like meditation, yoga or fitness classes, a guided forest bathing walk enhances the wellness benefits of your overall nature experience. As a Certified Forest Bathing Guide, I have been trained in techniques to help you slow down, enhance your senses and help you build your nature connection. In my walks, I use a sequence of sensory invitations that help participants to connect and be present with the natural environment.

FOREST BATHING WALKS
Guided Forest Bathing walks in Edinburgh are designed to help you slow down, connect with nature, and nurture your mind and body. During these relaxing walks, you’ll experience Shinrin Yoku-inspired practices that engage all your senses—seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting—while walking mindfully in nature.
Each session, lasting about 2 hours with 4 to 10 participants, offers a gentle and accessible experience suitable for all ages, fitness levels, and abilities.
These nature immersion experiences encourage relaxation, mindfulness, and reconnection with the natural world, leaving you feeling replenished and deeply connected. Join a Forest Bathing walk in Edinburgh to embrace the present moment and share a unique journey with others.

TEA GATHERING
I invite you to take part in nature connection activities in a fun and unique way that enhance and supports your well being with nature and the forest. My goal as your Forest Bathing Guide is to help you experience the forest through all your senses, the walk also includes a tea gathering with herbal infusions and healthy treats for you to enjoy.

The tea gathering offers another opportunity to slow down, feel calmer and balance. As we gather together, through sharing tea we feel more connected to ourselves, others and nature.

COMMUNITY
Community is a big part of the Forest Bathing experience. On a guided walk, the guide also holds space for people who wish to share and connect with one and other about their nature connections and experiences. Forest Bathing is a restorative practice that one must experience to fully understand it.

NATURE ART
On my guided Forest Bathing Walks, I love to weave in the practice of Nature Art, creating a unique and immersive experience.
Forest Bathing invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with the calming energy of the forest, while Nature-Inspired Art allows you to express this connection through creativity.
Together, these practices bring peace, spark creativity, and deepen your bond with the natural world.
