CREATIVE ROOTS IN NATURE

WHAT IS A TEA CEREMONY?
CHA DAO- THE WAY OF TEA
The tea ceremony is a quiet practice centred around the simple act of preparing and sharing tea. Rooted in East Asian traditions, Cha Dao translates to “the way of tea” and is practised as a way of slowing down, cultivating awareness, and returning to balance.

In a bowl tea ceremony, we sit together in silence while tea is prepared and shared. Through drinking tea, the experience unfolds as a meditative practice that cultivates awakened presence and inner harmony.

This ritual provides space and an invitation to slow down with all of the senses. The warmth of the bowl, the taste of the tea, the sound of water, and the rhythm of breath, allowing the mind to soften and the body to rest.

From this place of stillness and reflection, presence deepens, and a connection to nature, tea, and the body naturally emerges. The practice creates a space to pause, return to centre, and gently rest in the here and now.

“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves - slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.”
-Thich Nhat Han-

WHY TEA CEREMONY?
Modern life moves quickly and rarely offers opportunities to pause without distraction. Many people experience ongoing mental stimulation, stress, and disconnection from the body, leaving little space to slow down, listen inward, and cultivate awareness and grounding.

Tea ceremony supports the cultivation of inner qualities traditionally associated with Cha Dao, harmony, respect, purity, and tranquillity. Through silence and intentional pacing, the practice becomes a tool for self-cultivation in daily life.

As the guide, I prepare the tea and tend to the space, allowing participants to feel supported and fully present. The structure gently guides attention through the shared act of drinking tea, encouraging reflection, meditation practice, and a return to stillness.

Through this shared experience, tea becomes a point of connection- to nature, to community and to ourselves, offering a quiet return to grounding, awareness, harmony for those seeking stillness, presence, balance, and tranquillity.

NATURE TEA CEREMONY
A Practice of Presence

These monthly outdoor tea ceremonies offer a gentle introduction to bowl tea. We gather in nature to sit together in silence while tea is prepared and shared in bowls.
The ceremony is simple and unhurried, inviting attention into the body, the breath, and the quiet presence of the moment. Tea becomes a point of connection through its warmth, aroma, and taste. Nature becomes part of the experience—the air, sounds, and changing light—supporting ease and grounded awareness.

Bowl tea is shared as a practice of stillness and community, where silence is held together, and presence is felt collectively. The ceremony concludes with time for reflection and conversation.
PRIVATE TEA CEREMONIES
A private tea ceremony offers a beautiful and intentional way to mark a rite of passage or gather in shared presence. Ceremonies may be held at a location of your choice and are well suited for meaningful personal milestones, retreats, or small gatherings.
The ceremony is guided with care and simplicity, allowing participants to slow down and arrive fully in the moment. To preserve intimacy, private ceremonies are limited to up to10 participants.
If you are interested in hosting a ceremony for yourself or a loved one, please reach out to discuss dates, rates, and availability.
